Tsawout Spring 2019 Team |
For the first time ever, we went during Spring Break. This was also the first time we had brought parents from our church to Tsawout. This trip was very similar to the Winter trip, only that it wasn't 0 degrees. Without further adieu, here the photos.

On the first night, we did the spicy noodle challenge and had a sleepover |

A Tsawout trip is not complete without a game of Four Square |

We led worship in Sunday School |

After singing, we read the Creation Story |

We then all drew/wrote what we're thankful God created |

More beach shenanigans |

But alas we had to say goodbye |
Remember to keep praying for Tsawout, and pray for Pastors Moses and Hugh, as well as Sarah and Josiah as they continue to work through Him in Tsawout. I will leave you off with a testimony from two of the parents.

Moses, Sarah, the parents and Josiah |
"Last weekend, we were invited to Tsawout by Josiah for first ever “Family-Parent” weekend. We have heard many stories about Tsawout and were excited to see firsthand what it was all about.
Shortly after our arrival, we headed down to the beach where we bumped into some children looking for crabs. It was so refreshing to see the sheer joy and excitement on their faces as they pulled over rocks to reveal crabs crawling out from underneath them. They did not need TV, internet, video games, or organized playdates to entertain them. Just playing with God’s creation around them was sufficient!
We saw God working in Tsawout wherever we went and with whomever we met:
When we went with Josiah for a walk around the neighbourhood, people would wave and smile as we walked past them.
When kids dropped by the church, we found kids willing to share and engage with us older grownups. They were no different from some of our kids back home with hopes and dreams of becoming a doctor, a vet, a teacher or even a robotic engineer!
We met Jesse, a soft-spoken young man who used to come to the VBS run-summer camps. Now, he has a job in a Christian camp up in the Duncan area.
There was also Willard who generously gave us two fish (a grouper and rock cod) for our dinner that Saturday evening.
We saw the youth from our church (on their spring break) playing with the kids and teens. We praise God for the love and friendship they shared with them.
One lasting impression we had of our trip occurred on our way home from the beach after the four parents went looking for the northern lights. It was dark, the dogs were barking, the smell of weed was in the air and it was kind of spooky to say the least. However, as we climbed the hill and got closer to the church, we could see its lights all lit up and thought what a safe and welcoming place it was, and how it radiated love and hope to the community. (Matthew 5:14-16) We thank God for the many years of service, time and love that past (and current) VCBC teams have given/or giving. We have been rejuvenated spiritually this weekend by all that we have seen and experienced. We pray that God will continue to send more workers to live and work among the Tsawout people. To God be the glory!"
