Tsawout 2015 - Thanksgiving Edition feat. Team Reflections!

A Thanksgiving Prayer

"Thank you Lord for giving us the opportunity year after year to spend time at Tsawout with old and new friends. Thank you for blessing us with the resources to return to the community just to spend time and share life together. Thank you for giving us challenges to face and to overcome. Thank you for being patient with us when we are lost and can't see You working in our lives. Thank you for giving us time to reflect and come to understand some of the things you have been teaching us all along. Thank you for listening to all our prayers, Lord. Amen."

In September, the team gathered together once more for some fellowship and yummy food. We asked the team to personally reflect and write down some of the things they've learned through this experience of serving together. These short testimonials are just a glimpse of what God has been doing in our lives and we are so thankful to be able to share them with you! We hope that they encourage you and remind you of God's greatness.

Our Reflections

“I learned… how such a strong sense of community and togetherness can be built through God’s love. It was amazing seeing all the kids laugh and smile throughout the week, how one camp can touch the lives of so many.”

“I learned… that the kids really do enjoy us coming. I pray that God will open their hearts to His word and that they could accept Him into their life. I’ve learned to be patient with God’s timing. It’s in His timing that seeds will grow in people’s hearts.”

“I learned… some places, the smallest actions sometimes have the greatest effect. A smile can go a very long way.”

“I learned… how God works in mysterious ways.”

“I learned… sometimes, the only way to stop someone from running into the road is to knock them down.”

“I learned… regardless of who we are or where we came from, we share many of the same challenges and fears.”

“I learned… that God really changes these kid’s life. One kid I saw said that praying makes him/her very happy and that they could really hear God. This made me very happy.”

“I learned… how if we call out to God earnestly, He will answer in ways unimaginable and greater than we could expect.”

“I learned… to have faith because God will provide for all that we need.”

“I learned… how broken the community is and how previous afflictions with the church affects the adults to this day. I realized just how much work still needs to be done at Tsawout. Prayers are answered in the most unexpected ways.”

“I learned… that patience is really important when dealing with kids.”

“I learned… that Alf is actually a crazy person.”

“I learned… the importance of prayer and how powerful it is.”

“I learned… about the power of prayer. Throughout Tsawout I found that when I took the time to pray and write it down, it was impossible not to see God doing something in the community, in our team, or in my heart. I learned that sometimes we don’t have to do anything and God simply calls us to be willing or listen.”

"I learned… that if you let go and allow God to use you, He will most definitely use you to do things you never could have done in your own power."

"I learned... how to embrace God's love for me and used that love to love others."

“I learned… how important it is to love one another. I learned how much love we can demonstrate to the community by loving each other as a team and how interactions among the Tsawout team members can reflect God’s love. I also learned that sometimes it’s not what you say or do in the spur of the moment that matters, but how important it is just to listen and love the kids.”

“I learned… Jesus + hard work + faith + prayer + missions vision + enthusiastic people = smiles + gospel seeds + love of Jesus shared with many.”

“I learned… that God works in his own time, and that we have to be patient for his perfect plan. :)

“I learned… to be open minded + to listen to God’s guidance.”
